As mentioned in my previous post, prayer is an important part of the Christian journey, and as we noticed it helps bring us closer to God, and also increases our love for those around us. Next we are going to very briefly look at the ABC’s for the receiving the Holy Spirit. Once again i’d like to declare I was was introduced to the concept below during my time attending the training course provided by LIGHT.
- Ask for the Holy Spirit. (Luke 11:13)
- Believe God’s promises. (Mark 11:24)
- Claim the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 3:19, 1 John 5:14,15)
Early Writings, p. 115. “Ask, believe, and receive. There is too much mocking the Lord, too much praying that is no praying and that wearies angels and displeases God, too many vain, unmeaning petitions. First we should feel needy, and then ask God for the very things we need, believing that He gives them to us, even while we ask; and then our faith will grow, all will be edified, the weak will be strengthened, and the discouraged and desponding made to look up and believe that God is a rewarder of all those who diligently seek Him.”
What will be the result of taking these three steps? The answer to this question can be found in reading Acts 1:8 and Acts 2:1-4.
