Pathfinder Song Lyrics

Oh, we are the Pathfinders strong,
The servants of God are we.
Faithful as we march along,
In kindness, truth, and purity
A Message to tell to the world,
A truth that will set us free!
King Jesus the Savior’s coming back
For you, and me!

History of Pathfinders & The Meaning

The origins of Pathfinders origins of Pathfinders were based on the creation of missionary volunteers (MV) society in 1907. It was the concept of Flora Plummer the director of the General conference sabbath school department and the Youth Director of the Seventh-Day Adventist world church at that time. Junior Missionary Volunteer (JM) were added in 1909.

The idea of local clubs carrying out outdoor activities was added in 1922 by Arthur Whitefield Spalding who was the director of family ministries at the General Conference. In 1919 he had started a small group of what he called missions scouts for the youth of his home church.

The first campout by JMV was in Michigan in 1926. In 1927 the term pathfinder was first used & introduced by the Youth Leader of the South-Eastern California conference. By 1930 the structure of classes for pre-JMV (Adventurers) and for pathfinders was in place. From busy bee to mAster comrade(master guide since 1951).

Pathfinder Clubs began to spring up in the north america division and n the 1940’s the pathfinder emblem, flag and source were brought into effect. In 1950 the GC authorised pathfinder clubs across the world. Laurance Skinner was the first world pathfinder director.

The first clubs in New zealand & Australia had already been found by some in the late 1940’s.
